Red Valley

Cusco has many wonderful places to visit, one of them is the Red Valley of Pitumarca, located in the province of Canchis, belonging to the Vilcanota mountain range next to glaciers such as Ausangate and Salkantay, at about 5020 meters above sea level.
The red coloration is due to the oxidation of iron present in the rocks.

To get to the Red Valley you must walk approximately 02 hours, this route crosses mountains full of beautiful landscapes.
Many tourists visit this place in conjunction with the 7 colors mountain, located very close.
Due to its high altitude and its proximity to the snowy Ausangate, the climate in the valley is cold, the temperature varies between 7°C and 12°C and at night it can reach 0°C.

The roads to get to the red valley are wide and can be traveled easily, the only drawbacks are the cold and the altitude, which can cause discomfort such as headaches, dizziness, nausea, and fatigue. It is recommended to drink plenty of water and spend two or more days in the city so that you can acclimatize and not suffer from altitude sickness.

It is necessary that you have the following items to visit the place safely: Trekking shoes, rain poncho, hat or chullo, thermal pants, gloves, jacket, sunscreen, snacks, rehydrating drinks, water, documents, cash and cannot miss the camera!

You cannot miss this incredible attraction on your visit to Cusco!
