Do you know Puca Pucara?
It is a military construction located at 3850 meters above sea level, near the city of Cusco, in Peru.
It is one of the main archaeological sites along with Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo and Tambomachay. It is said that it was a resting place or “Tambo” for the entourage that accompanied the Inca on his visit to Tambomachay.
Due to being on a raised platform it was given the name of Fortress, this fortress is composed of large walls, stairways, terraces and terraces.

Known as Puca Pucara or Pukapukara, which in Quechua means “Red Fortress”, this due to the color of the earth with abundant Andean straw (ichu) and vegetation characteristic of high altitude areas such as this place.
Together with Qenqo, Tambomachay and Sacsayhuaman; Puca Pucara was one of the most important places for the Incas, built mainly with medium and small limestone rock. This archaeological site has three levels; the first and bottom have a sinuous shape with irregular rooms. The second, higher, surrounds the central buildings and has fewer rooms. The third, at the top, is destroyed by the passage of time.

It is an unmissable destination on your next visit to the city of Cusco !!!
