It is the most famous construction of the Archaeological site of Raqchi in Cusco. It is a temple over 14 meters high.

The Wiracocha temple is located on an esplanade and has two naves with windows and doors built on a base of andesite stone.
For many historians, the size of its buildings must have made this temple the most proportional in the Inca Empire.

Data of the God Wiracocha
Also called "Dios de los Báculos" because he is represented with rods in both hands. He is also usually represented with a feline face, raindrops like tears and with sunbeams on his face.
The God Wiracocha was present in the cultures of Ancient Peru such as the Chavin culture, Paracas, Tiahuanaco, Wari and others.

The archaeological complex of Raqchi is an enclosure where the Incas erected emblematic constructions of immense dimensions, according to the chroniclers its walls were made of adobe and stone during the governments of the Inca Viracocha, Pachacutec and Tupac Yupanqui.
The complex has been divided into 5 main sectors; the Wiracocha Temple, the Greater Inca Temple, the warehouses, the statue, the enclosures and the water sources.

Constructions in Raqchi:
The Greater Inca Temple: Similar to the Temple of Wiracocha. Its walls have similar proportions to the main temple. The base is made of finely carved stone and finished with adobe. Of the 11 columns that supported the roof, only one survives.
The Warehouses: also known as "colcas" were deposits of food products such as corn, quinoa and potatoes. It is estimated that there are an average of 200.
The statue: During some excavations a stone representation was found. The scientists maintained that it was a statue of Wiracocha.
The enclosures: There are 22 constructions, these types of houses or barracks are displayed next to some esplanades or patios proportional to the buildings.
Water source: Located to the east of the main temple and from whose walls spring water gushes, there is the "Baños del Inca", which stands out for its finely carved stone.

Raqchi was part of the Qhapac Ñan, the network of roads that connected the corners of Tahuantinsuyo.
This place must have been a resting place for the chasquis (messengers)

Raqchi is one of the tourist places in which the traditions and customs of hundreds of years ago are still preserved, where you can interact with the population and also do experiential tourism, you cannot miss this attraction on your visit to Cusco!!!
